“Eye of the Nebula” Stunning Blue Koroit Opal, Triangle Blue Opal, Unique Statement Pendant,
• The Trillion shaped Koroit Opal is natural and measures 13 mm x 15 mm. The matrix is very thin around the edge and the intense blue color leaps out at you. It is set in a 1.75 x 1.25-inch stamped setting and the bezel is also stamped. A slight patina acts to offset the setting and sterling silver balls represent newborn stars. The pendant is suspended by an 18-inch sterling ball chain.
• When I am not creating, I am searching for the perfect stone. I have a favorite cutter who goes to Australia every year and mines his own opals. His cutting talent and eye are amazing and I have always admired his work. When he posted this stone on his site I drooled. The blue is so deep and the cut so unique. I kept coming back to it again and again. Finally, I broke down and bought it.
• The stone sat in its container for months begging to be set until one day, while doodling, I came up with a design that I thought would display it. The stone reminded me of some of the pictures from Hubble. I am especially drawn to the pictures of the Nebulae. A picture of the Orion Nebula contained the same blue and brown as my stone. I imagine what the shock waves looked like and tried to capture it is silver.
• This is a one of a kind piece and a very stunning Opal. My photography doesn’t do the stone justice and there are no filters on the pictures. It will certainly send shock waves through you.
